Abstract
This study attempts to examine the interplay between biology, population, environment, and the genetic structure of a small population. Focus is on Ramah Navajo demographic history between 1869 and 1964. Included is detailed information on fertility, mortality, and biological parameters, summaries of Navajo history and ecology, and speculations on the genetic implications of these data. The author uses census and vital records, hospital records, previous studies, and a survey to arrive at conclusions about the interplay between culture, genetics, and environment.
