Alcoholic cirrhosis among the Navaho

Abstract
This article presents '…an attempt to use the incidence of and the death rates due to Laennec's cirrhosis as a relatively direct gauge of high alcohol intake among the Navaho…' (p. 673). Data gathered from hospital records were used to compile statistics. The results showed that Navajo have a lower death rate from cirrhosis than the general population and there is much discussion about the implications of this finding.
