A note on regional variation in Navajo kinship terminology

Abstract
On the evidence of genealogies collected from ninety-four informants, the authors conclude regional variations in kinship terminology and its usage indicate that the terminology is changing. While not being able to explain the reasons for this change conclusively, nevertheless the trend is similar to that occurring among the nearby Hopi.
