American anthropologist, n.s.37 • Published In 1935 • Pages: 273-279

By: Hill, W. W. (Willard Williams).

Abstract
This brief discussion, by an ethnologist who did many studies of the Navajo, is based on information about five hermaphrodites and transvestites and personal interrogation of a sixth hermaphrodite. (The latter is Kinipai, of Buck's Store, New Mexico.) Among the aspects touched on by Hill are dress, sexual and social behavior, personal adjustment, and attitude of the community toward the individual.
