American anthropologist, n.s.41 • Published In 1939 • Pages: 245-257

By: Carr, Malcolm, Spencer, Katherine, Wooley, Doriane.

Abstract
This is a regional study of the Navajo clan and its relationship to marriage and would be a useful record for comparison with other areas. The genealogies collected by the authors at Pueblo Alto cover 888 persons and a total of 247 marriages. These data give an adequate sample of the clans there and show their relative strength. The material obtained during summer field sessions of the University of New Mexico under the direction of Dr. Clyde Kluckhohn, a leading authority on the Navajo.
