Abstract
This monograph is the second of the reports of the Ramah project. The central theme in all Ramah investigations is the necessity for intensive analysis of variation. Dr. Bailey's work on aspects of the reproductive cycle admirably fulfills this objective. All his fieldwork was done in New Mexico, three-quarters in the Ramah area. However, he also refers to Dr. Hill's fieldwork, which was carried out mostly in Arizona. Bailey spent three-quarters of his fieldwork in the Ramah area, where he spent the first thre summers (1938-1940). In addition to Ramah, he interviewed people in the Chaco Canyon and Pinedale asreas of New Mexico. Informants from Ramah are indicated by numbers, Pinedale in upper-case initials, and Chaco Canyon in lower-case initials. Dr. Hill's informants are from Lukachukai, Keams Canyon, and White Cone in Arizona; and Buck's Store in New Mexico.
