Abstract
This article presents an ethnographic sketch of the California Pomo with emphasis on Western and Northeastern groups. The authors discuss the language and territory of the Pomo, the environment, subsistence patterns, technology, clothing and adornment, structures, social and political organization, life cycle events, religion, external relations, trade, warfare, prehistory, and history. The authors note throughout the effects of acculturation on native institutions.
