Abstract
This is a study of Eastern and Southeastern Pomo ethnography and culture history, primarily of the period ranging from the mid nineteenth to approximately the 1970s. These two groups occupy village communities around Clear Lake in the coast range of mountains approximately 100 miles north of San Francisco, California. McLendon compares and contrasts the Eastern and Southeastern Pomo in terms of environmental adjustments, subsistence economies, diet, dress and adornment, social organization, kinship and descent, life cycles, ceremonies, political organization, and history.
