By: Kunkel, Peter H..

Abstract
This paper discusses some ideas and conclusions that Kunkel has derived from the analysis of his data regarding political organization among the Pomo and other tribes of northern California. The author discusses the basic political units and ambilateral residential kin groups involved in his analysis and critiques the theoretical generalizations made by Kroeber, Gifford, Goldschmidt and others regarding these cultural aspects of society.
