Abstract
This work, written by B. W. Aginsky, a professional anthropologist at the College of the City of New York, draws upon the author's background in both anthropology and psychology to present to the reader some aspects of the northern California Pomo Indian culture, as derived from the attitudes of the people themselves and the patterned behavior they exhibit in their society. This study is primarily concerned with the psychological building up of tensions and pressures within the society, their release through various forms of orgiastic behavior, and the reactions to and control of such behavior by the members of the society as viewed from the institutionalized patterned context of the Pomo culture.
