Abstract
This document is a brief description of the Osage of the middle Arkansas valley, with particular reference to their relationships with other Indian groups including culturally related Quapaw, Otoe, Omaha and Ponca. It describes the ways these relationships were re-configured beginning with the 1680s with the arrival of the French trapper/traders.
