Abstract
This work presents a detailed analysis of the characteristics and development of the Cuban community in Miami, Florida, from 1959 to the 1990s. Emphasis in the document is on the Cuban migrations to Miami, their concentrations and settlements in the Miami area, distinctive features of the community, acculturation and culture change, participation in the U.S. political system, the 'exile' ideology of Cubans in Miami and deviations and changes from this ideology.
