Abstract
This work focuses on the adaptation, adjustment, and assimilation of Cuban migrants living in West New York, New Jersey. to mainstream American society. Two important aspects of the adaptation process are discussed with various ramifications of meaning throughout the pages of this study. The first of these deals with occupational mobility and assimilation, while the second is concerned with factors affecting these patterns and relationships between them. In addition to the main themes mentioned above Rogg examines the hypothesis that community integration is a factor which hinders the assimilation of migrants, and then provides further descriptive information on the mental health attitudes and behaviour of Cuban migrants. The monograph concludes with a summary of the principal findings of the study and several recommendations for future research and policy formulations (p. x).
