This book presents, from an anthropological perspective, an assessment of the development and socio-economic adaptation of the Haitian community to life in New York City (p. 14).The author first describes the Haitian migrations to the United States including motives for emigration, and settlement patterns within the U.S.,and then continues with detailed discussions of social adjustment to life in New York City, family relationships and organization, job hunting, economics, health beliefs and practices, and politics.
