Abstract
This article probes the intercultural relations and perceptions in the fur trade between European traders and the Ojibwa. White discusses the importance of gift giving as a means of establishing rapport between the traders and the Ojibwa, the significance of alcohol in exchange transactions, and competition between the fur trading companies.
