Abstract
This document presents a brief historical and ethnological summary of the Ojibwa of northern Michigan and southern Ontario from the early contact period around 1615 to the urbanization period of 1930 to 1972. Data include information on location, warfare, trade, population statistics, the economy, certain aspects of the material culture, socio-political organization, religion, farming, and land cessions throughj treaty negotiations. A prominent theme running thoughout this article is that of socio-cultural change and acculturation. A detailed synonymy concludes this work.
