Abstract
The author of this work was a professional ethnologist and member of the Order of St. Benedict. Although child-rearing practices were the main objective of the study, a full ethnographic description is included. Material was obtained from a number of reservations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. In addition to data on the life cycle, information is included on material culture, social organization, religion, subsistence activities, etc. A thorough survey of the literature was made in writing the work.
