Western Canadian journal of anthropology6 (2) • Published In 1976 • Pages: 83-91

By: Larner, John W..

Abstract
This article is a synopsis of the author's dissertation, assessing the Stoneys' land claims in the Bighorn-Kootenay Plains District in Alberta, Canada. Larner first gives an overview of the Alberta Stoney bands and reserves. Next he discusses the history of the Stoneys in Alberta and in the district in question. He concludes that the Stoneys were the major group in the region and should be compensated for the loss of that territory.
