Abstract
This document provides an historical account of Kutenai encounters with missionaries, of experiences with mission schools, and of the influence of Christianity on Kutenai religious beliefs and practices. The author is particularly interested in a pagan-Christian cult that appeared in the 1830s, questioning the veracity of a legend about how the cult was introduced to the area.
