Abstract
This is an historical study of the role of two specific Blackfoot (Siksika) bands, led by their chiefs Old Swan and Big Man, in their relations with Euro-Canadian fur traders during the period of 1794-1815. In the text Binnema presents various bits of biographical information on the two chiefs as well as data on the relationship of the bands to other tribal groups in the region (e.g., Cree, Assiniboin, Atsina, etc.).
