Abstract
This is a brief, general account of the culture of the Nootka stressing social organization, the potlatch, and ceremonial. Data are also given on games, music, art, religion and shamanism. Boas, a well known anthropologist, does not go into any great detail on any of these subjects, since this was essentially a progress report on his recent fieldwork in the area.
