Abstract
This article deals primarily with events since 1960 that have affected contemporary villages of the Pacific Eskimo, chiefly the Koniag, the Chugach, and the Unegkukrmiut, located on the Alaska and Kenai peninsulas and Kodiak Island. Davis discusses the cultural ties between these villages, some common characteristics shared by these Eskimo groups, and various features distinguishing one village from another.
