Abstract
In this study Light and Bonacich focus on Korean entrepreneurship within the Los Angeles area and more broadly within the capitalist system of the United States. The authors trace the roots of Korean immigrants back to the conditions in Korea and in the United States that led to their disproportionate numbers in the self-employed category in the United States. Light and Bonacich's analysis concerns class and ethnic factors, and the roles of labor and big business. They focus on certain industries where Koreans have been predominant, such as the production and distribution of wigs, the garment industry, liquor sales, and other retail outlets.
