Abstract
This is a brief summary of Basque ethnography in the American West from the mid-nineteenth century to the 1970s. Much of the material presented here reinforces, and to some extent modifies, the cultural data appearing in 4: Douglass in this file. Some very limited information is also to be found in this article on Basque concentrations in eastern United States, namely in New York City, the greater Miami area, and in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
