By: Baldinger, Philip.

Abstract
This work is a student essay for a senior conference in anthropology focused around the concept of ethnicity. Fieldwork averaged about five months for the students involved. Baldinger focuses on the role of married women in the Lubavitcher Hasidim community, and presents data from Philadelphia and Brooklyn. Baldinger draws no specific conclusions about the status of married women, but he seems to accept the Lubavitcher view that the roles of men and women are different and complementary, and that women's role are equal to or 'more equal' to men's roles.
