Abstract
This source discusses different types of folk-healers among Chicanos in Texas, noting the hierarchy of folk-healer statuses and illustrating the transformation of folk-healer into 'folk-saint' with the example of Don Pedrito Jaramillo (1829-1907), a Mexican who arrived in Texas is 1881. The success of a healer is determined according to the numbner of followers that a particular CURANDERO obtains.
