The interpretation of some documentary evidence on Carib culture

Southwestern journal of anthropology5 • Published In 1949 • Pages: 379-392

By: Taylor, Douglas MacRae.

Abstract
This source is primarily a commentary on the summary of Carib culture presented by Irving Rouse in the HANDBOOK OF SOUTH AMERICAN INDIANS, Vol. 4 (see 5: Rouse). Taylor gives criticisms, corrections and additions to the Rouse article, quoting several of the early writers on the Carib and also citing the culture of the modern day Dominica Carib as authority for his statements. While this article adds little new material to the file, it is an aid in evaluating evidence from other authors who are apparently in disagreement.
