Abstract
This article deals with shamanism among the Iban. Included are data on the status and initiation of a shaman, the various types of curing ceremonies employed by the shaman, and beliefs about the causes of disease. Several pages of texts sung in curing ceremonies are included, and the Iban shaman is compared with others in the same area. Perham was one of the first missionaries to work with the Iban.
