Abstract
This article outlines the many ways through which villagers in Senapur, a locality in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, maintained connections with the world beyond the local community. The most important of these included kinship and marriage ties, caste membership, labor exchanges, economic transactions, and political and religious affiliations.
