Abstract
This study - Part II of 3 papers on Malay life and customs describes the kampong, the Malay house and its equipment as they appear today and traces the influences which have affected their development. Distinctions are drawn throughout between the possessions and customs of the Sultan, lesser royalty and the people. The discussion of dress includes descriptions of various garments and the materials of which they are made and of special costumes such as the wedding dress. The section on food covers food preferences and its preparation (including several recipes). The appendix contains Malay texts describing the Sultan's regalia, etc. A glossary of native terms will be found in footnotes throughout the text.
