Abstract
This is a survey of political events in Indochina from 1945 to 1951. The author delves into the background of the policy decisions made by France, various Indochinese factions, Communist China, the United States and the United Nations. This study constitutes a chapter of the Institute of Pacific Relations volume, THE STATE OF ASIA, and supplements a former work by the same author, THE EMERGENCE OF VIET NAM, source 38: Hammer in this File. The earlier work analyzed political events up to 1947.
