Abstract
This brief study describes Cambodian life in a framework of Khmer cosmology and mythology. Monod, in his description of the day to day existence of the Cambodians, has created a group of charcaters whom he follows from birth to death. On the policy level Monod is sympathetic to the Cambodian people. He believes that the Khmer are a cooperative and intelligent people who could be won over more thoroughly to French administration. Although this work seems to be based on first hand knowledge rather than on bibliographical research, no information is given about Monod's background or about the length of his stay in Cambodia.
