Abstract
This is an account of three months' travel in 1945 through western Inner Mongolia where the author was sent on a military mission. The book contains descriptions of the Mongols and of the Chinese settlers in the area, as well as discussions of its political and military organizations. The author also recounts his visits to monasteries and temples giving information on the structures and their furnishings, and on the Buddhism of Inner Mongolia.
