Abstract
This is a part of the report of researches made by the Mongolian Scientific Expeditionary Party, held under the auspices of the Keijo Imperial University. The author belonged to the Economics Division and conducted ethnographic researches on the manners and customs of the Mongols of the Silingol League. Mr. Izumi had projected a much longer study of the Mongols, but war service prevented its completion, and this first, unfinished part was published by his editors. This source contains a study of the Mongol houses, clothing and food which were observed in the course of the journey. General observations are made on the changing conditions of the population as the geographical setting itself changed, with particular emphasis upon the influence of Chinese culture upon the Mongols. Excellent detailed information is given here on the three above-mentioned aspects of Mongol culture.
