By: Sabloff, Paula L. W..

Abstract
In this chapter from the book, 'Modern Mongolia' (see documents nos. 24-26), Sabloff asks the question how was it that in the 1990s, Mongolians readily embraced Western democracy? She surveyed 336 people about their ideas of democracy and compared the ideas with Western democratic principles and democratic principles inherent in the codes enacted by Genghis Khan.
