Abstract
This material provides a brief survey of Nama history with particular reference to their historical and cultural relations with other ethnic groups in southern Afria. Extracting information from different sources including historical accounts, early ethnography, recent studies and oral tradition, the author argues that the Nama should be considered as representatives of the Khoisan culture area.
