Abstract
This is a study of the wide diversity displayed in Bushman (San) society and culture which Guenther attempts to explain by reference to ecological, historical, and socio-economic factors. How this diversity affects, and is affected by anthropological theory in Bushman studies, forms an important part of this paper.
