The social influence of change in hunting techniques among the Central Kalahari San

Abstract
This study examines the changes precipitated by the change to equestrian hunting among the Kade at the !Koi!kom borehole in central Botswana. Subjects covered included the methods and increased success of hunting from horseback and the effects of this new way of hunting on meat distribution in the community. The author concludes that meat is shared less because of the inability of hunters without horses to reciprocate, increasing sedentism and population, and the sale of meat to outsiders.
