social change in angolaMünchen • Published In 1973 • Pages: 32-52

By: Pössinger, Hermann.

Abstract
Pössinger presents an economic history of the Ovimbundu, which is intended as a useful guide for development project personnel. He examines the changes in Ovimbundu social organization, economic practices, and land tenure system from the early period of trading caravans to the later period of cash-crop agriculture. The latter period is marked by a new system of private property, family nuclearization, and increasing proletarization.
