Abstract
This source by a British colonial official is a discussion of land tenure in what was then Zaria province, involving some Katab subgroups, particularly the Jaba and the Kagoro. Materials include: summaries of population and resources; native perspectives on land tenure; settlement patterns; and local history. Change in native forms as a result of British and Hausa administration is emphasized. Appendices detail population statistics for recognized tribes and chart Kagoro social structure.
