Abstract
This source is an examination of the role of ethnic unions in micro-political systems and their effect on local political development (p. 3). The author examines ethnic improvement unions in Abiriba, a large village-group in Bende Division and in Mbaise, a County Council area in Owerri Division. She also examines their counterparts in the city of Port Harcourt. The ethnic unions varied in their functions and importance. Their political functions depended upon their ethnic context.
