Abstract
This source provides a detailed description and comparison of kachina altars at Oraibi, Cipaulovi, Walpi, and Miconinovi. The author's purpose in comparing the altars is to understand the aim of the religious ceremonies connected with the altars. The author concludes that the aim of the ceremonies connected with kachina altars is material, i. e., to ensure protection of the living and the fertilization of corn.
