Account of a voyage of discovery to the north-east of Siberia, the frozen ocean, and the north-east sea: volume II

By: Sarychev, Gavriil Andreevich.

Abstract
Sarychev accompanied Capt. Billings on his voyages from Kamchatka to America and wrote a detailed account of the journey. Volume II deals with the tribes of the west coast of Canada as well as the Aleuts, but only those passages relating to the Aleuts are included. Since Sarychev spent most of his time on Unalaska his references apply to the Aleuts of Unalaska unless otherwise indicated. Sarychev includes much geographical data. For example, in the Aleutians, he recorded such things as exact location of most islands, distance between islands, topography, harbor depths, etc. For the most part, these geographical passages are not included, since most Aleutian geographical data is adequately treated in other sources.
