By: Lansing, John Stephen.

Abstract
This article discusses the role of Balinese regional water temple networks in irrigating and managing traced rice farms. In doing so, the author argues that earlier studies have wrongly attributed the organization of Balinese irrigation either to state bureaucracy or autonomous work groups.
