Abstract: This document dealing with the Pomo Indians is divided into three primary parts comprising chapters 15-17. The first of these divisions deals with such topics as habitat, environment, political divisions, lists of village communities, wars, and food supply. The second chapter on the Pomo deals with their civilization and covers such things as material culture, marriage, trade, birth and death, and government. The last of these three chapters covers Pomo religion, and is concerned with the ceremonial system, special ceremonies, modern Ghost Dance, mythology, and type of culture (cultural summary). As a whole, each section is quite adequately covered, although elaboration of detail is at a minimum, a fact which is notable in the description of the various religious ceremonies.
