Abstract: This source is a general ethnography of the Florida Seminole community of Big Cypress, with a special focus on culture change and decision-making. The author gives particular attention to the introduction of cattle raising at Big Cypress and developments in the political structure of the Florida Seminole Tribe. Other topics covered in the source include environment, subsistence pattern, social and political organization, health, education, religion, and contact with and integration into Euro-American society.
