Abstract: The material for this brief article is mostly drawn from the author’s field research among the Azande. Herein is information on Azande ethnozoological concepts, including traditional views, attitudes and ideas about the fauna in the Azande habitat. The article treats how the Azande classify animals taxonomically, food taboos and avoidances regarding animals, mythical, magical and sacred significance of animals, and ideas about animal behavior patterns. The method of presentation is wholly descriptive (in recording the textual statements of the informant) with no interpretive analysis.
