Abstract
In this article, Ames subjects the total religious system of the Sinhalese of Sri Lanka to a systematic structural analysis. According to the author's outline, he discusses the central religious ideals of Theravada Buddhism, how these ideals are put into practice, and the problems involved in implementing these practices.
