Abstract
The research for this source was funded as a result of the British perception that administrative reorganization was required in Igboland in the 1930's. The Aba Riots of women in 1929-30 alerted the colonial rulers to the need for more information about this sector of the population. Thus, this village study in Owerri Province is both an ethnographic and an intelligence report on the dynamics of decision-making and social control, with particular attention devoted to women's roles.
