Abstract
After a review of the history of contacts between the Andaman islanders and outside peoples Cipriani gives a lengthy and detailed description of the topography, flora, and fauna of the islands. The book contains only a modest amount of data on physical anthropology and archaeology, few and very generalized data on the culture and society of the Andamanese, but many conjectural statements. Most of the firsthand material on the Andamanese here refers to the Onge of Little Andaman, since Cipriani was unable to visit the Jarawa of Great Andaman.
